How to use the EUR to USD calculator

  1. Make sure EUR is selected as the 'From' currency and USD as the 'To' currency (they're pre-set for you).
  2. Type your euro amount into the top field.
  3. The dollar equivalent appears instantly below — no button needed.
  4. Want the reverse (dollars to euros)? Hit the swap arrow between the two fields.

Worked example: converting 350 EUR to USD

Say you want to know how much 350 euros is in US dollars. If today's ECB mid-market rate is 1 EUR = 1.0850 USD:

350 EUR × 1.0850 = 397.75 USD

So 350 euros converts to approximately $397.75 at that rate. The tool does this multiplication live, the moment you finish typing.

How the EUR/USD rate is calculated

The conversion is straightforward multiplication:

USD amount = EUR amount × EUR/USD rate

The EUR/USD rate tells you how many dollars one euro buys. If the rate is 1.08, one euro buys $1.08. The ECB publishes its reference rates each working day around 16:00 CET — this tool fetches that public rate table.

Quick EUR to USD reference table

Rates change daily. The table below is based on a sample mid-market rate of 1 EUR = 1.0850 USD — use the calculator above for the live figure.

Euros (EUR)US Dollars (USD) approx.
1 EUR$1.09
10 EUR$10.85
50 EUR$54.25
100 EUR$108.50
250 EUR$271.25
500 EUR$542.50
1 000 EUR$1 085.00
5 000 EUR$5 425.00

These are mid-market (interbank) reference rates from the ECB. The rate your bank or card provider applies will include their margin on top of this — typically 0.5 %–3 % extra, depending on the provider.

Other ways people ask the same question

The euro-to-dollar conversion comes up in a lot of different situations. Here's how common phrasings map to the same calculation:

  • 'What is X euros in dollars?' — straight conversion: multiply euros by the current EUR/USD rate.
  • 'EUR/USD exchange rate today' — looking for the rate itself; the calculator shows this in the rate display beneath the fields.
  • 'Dollar to euro' — the reverse direction; swap the currencies using the arrow icon.
  • 'How much is 1 euro in US dollars?' — just enter 1 in the EUR field; the result is the current rate.
  • 'Euro dollar rate this week' — the ECB rate is refreshed each working day, so the figure here reflects the latest published reference rate.

Quick tips and common mistakes

  • Mid-market ≠ what you'll receive. Banks and currency exchange services add a margin. Use this rate as a benchmark, then compare what your provider actually charges.
  • Weekend rates don't move. The ECB only publishes on working days (Monday–Friday). On weekends the tool shows the most recent published rate — not a live interbank quote.
  • Large transfers deserve a proper quote. For amounts above a few thousand euros, a specialist FX broker often beats your bank's retail rate significantly.
  • Don't confuse EUR/USD with USD/EUR. EUR/USD (e.g. 1.085) means 1 euro = 1.085 dollars. USD/EUR (e.g. 0.921) means 1 dollar = 0.921 euros. They're reciprocals of each other.
  • The rate display updates each day, but if you keep the tab open overnight, refresh it in the morning to get the newest ECB figure.

Your data stays in your browser

The only network request this tool makes is fetching the ECB's public exchange rate table. No amounts you type are sent anywhere — all the maths happens locally in your browser. Your figures are private.

Need to work with other data formats alongside your currency calculations? You might find our JSON Beautifier or JSON Validator handy if you're pulling exchange rate data from an API and need to inspect the response.

Frequently asked questions

What is today's EUR to USD exchange rate?+
The calculator at the top of this page shows the current ECB mid-market rate, updated each working day around 16:00 CET. Just look at the rate displayed beneath the conversion fields — no need to type anything.
Why is the rate I get at my bank different from what this tool shows?+
This tool uses the ECB mid-market (interbank) reference rate — the midpoint between buy and sell prices. Banks and card providers add their own margin on top of this, which is how they make money on currency exchange. The mid-market rate is the fairest benchmark to compare against.
How do I calculate EUR to USD by hand?+
Multiply your euro amount by the EUR/USD rate. For example, if the rate is 1.085 and you have 200 EUR: 200 × 1.085 = 217 USD. That's the full formula.
Is my data saved or uploaded anywhere?+
No. The only data fetched from the internet is the public ECB rate table. Every calculation happens inside your browser. Nothing you type is sent to any server.
Can I convert USD back to EUR with this tool?+
Yes — just tap or click the swap arrow between the two currency fields. It flips the direction so you're converting US dollars to euros instead.
Why hasn't the rate changed over the weekend?+
The European Central Bank publishes reference rates on working days only (Monday to Friday). On Saturdays and Sundays the tool displays the last published rate, which is normal — live interbank markets do still move slightly, but the ECB doesn't issue a weekend rate.
Is this tool free to use?+
Completely free, with no account, no sign-up, and no ads blocking the tool. Use it as often as you like.
How accurate is the ECB rate compared to live forex markets?+
The ECB rate is a daily snapshot taken at 16:00 CET, so it may differ slightly from the real-time interbank rate you'd see on a forex platform at any given moment. For everyday reference purposes — checking a price, estimating a travel budget, reviewing an invoice — it is highly reliable. For live trading, use a dedicated forex feed.
